Governing bodies such as AHIMA (American Health Information Management
Association) encourage Health Information Management directors to
develop department compliance plans that focus on the monitoring
and accuracy for their coding. The HIPAA regulations strongly recommend
that health care facilities have a Corporate Compliance Program
in place to ensure that the financial operations of the facilities
meet ethical guidelines and that the billing is accurate.
While facilities are held to such stringent recommendations, there
are none for companies who provide coding/billing consulting services
to facilities.
In fact, according to AHIMA up to 80% of companies offering data
coding review services don't have compliance plans!
The integrity of coded data and the ability to change it into functional
information rests on the foundations of coding standards.
Use of unified standards benefits everyone by:
- cutting costs
- improving the quality and integrity of data
- improving and easing decision making
- better over-all healthcare information and service.
Integrity in compliance not only is the right thing to do, it just
makes sense. For everyone.
Amphion is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date solutions
