Transcription
What platform
does Amphion type on?
Amphion uses Dictaphone Voice, Text, and Speech systems which assist
in providing more reliable, accurate, and efficient services through
automation and ease of work-flow management.
How are the
transcriptionists hired?
Transcriptionists apply and test online. Testing includes objective
multiple-choice questions covering grammar, style, and medical terminology
as well as transcription of actual dictation from one of our most
difficult clients (less demographic information). Successful applicants
then proceed with a telephone interview with our VP-HR. Reference
checking is conducted prior to any job offers.
Do you QA
the work?
Absolutely. All transcriptionists' work is proofed 100% for the
first month of employment. At that time, a determination is made
whether to continue to 100% proof their documents or to move them
to monthly random QA checks in accordance with Amphion's formal
Quality Assurance Program.
What is your
TAT?
Amphion will work with your TAT needs. We can meet virtually any
TAT, if we have guaranteed daily volumes. Otherwise, we use the
24 hour TAT for most transcribed reports.
How much
do you charge?
Amphion charges per line. Each client is assessed using the same
criteria: templates, volume, system set-up, and individual customization.
Once we have fully assessed the needs, we will produce a proposal
representing a per line charge.
Do you use
overseas workers?
Amphion is dedicated to the transcriptionists who work and live
in the United States. Therefore, our entire workforce is domestic
and employees of Amphion. We do not subcontract, nor do we currently
use any employees from overseas.
Do you use any voice recognition technology?
Amphion uses Dictaphone Speech Technology in cases where transcription
may be productive, reliable, and accurate using recognition.

Coding
Will Amphion
coders come on-site?
Amphion has made a commitment to eliminating all travel expenses
to our clients. Therefore, in doing so, we have a business model
that utilizes remote technology and remote coders. By coding your
records remotely, we can hire the best coders from around the country,
skilled in the type of coding your facility needs. If absolutely
necessary, our staff will travel for very short term assignments.
Why should
I do a coding audit?
As the HIM director you have an obligation to your hospital and
your CFO to ensure that your coding is as accurate as possible.
In addition, HIPAA Fraud and Abuse regulations require providers
to ensure that they submit accurate bills and that rebilling is
kept at a minimum. Without coding audits you have no idea what your
accuracy rates are and no way to target coder education to reduce
errors and improve coder skills.
Why should
I do a coding audit pre-billing?
In order to comply with HIPAA regulations you need to submit accurate
bills the first time! By performing your coding reviews on a prebilling
basis you have the opportunity to make corrections prior to submitting
the bill. The coders also receive education on their coding errors
the same day as they code the case. Experience has proven that this
immediate feedback is more effective in reducing errors and improving
coder skills than education performed based on historical retrospective
reviews.
How are
Amphion coders hired?
Our Amphion coders begin their interview process by submitting a
resume to our Human Resource Department. After successful completion
of standardized coding testing, applicants are interviewed in-person
or via telephone. The interview process continues with reference
checking and then job offers to the best qualified.
All of our applicants need to come to us with at least three years'
coding experience (inpatient; outpatient; ambulatory services and/or
physician services) in addition to their formal training. Amphion
coders are also required to have AHIMA or AAPC coding credentials.
How many
records does Amphion code a month?
Amphion codes an average of 6500 records per month. Included are
all types of cases such as: inpatient, ambulatory surgery, outpatient/diagnostics
and emergency department. We also have staff skilled in evaluation
and management coding for professional billing.
How many
records does Amphion review per month?
Amphion consistently reviews between 500 and 700 records each and
every month for our growing list of clients.
Does
Amphion have references?
Yes, Amphion is committed to quality and therefore conducts a bi-annual
client survey. Our most recent survey results scored a retention
rate of 100%. The vast majority rated Amphion's coding services
as "exceeds expectations". There were no "unsatisfactory"
scores.

Themis
Can
any coder go home to work remotely with Themis?
A coder can usually go home to code remotely if they have a good
high speed
internet connection at their home. Dial-up would be problematic,
but DSL
works just fine.
What
workflow issues do we have to adjust for a coder to go home?
Your department workflow must work well in order for the remote
coder to receive all chart documents that she needs to code a record.
If this means assembling first and then scanning, it may require
a workflow change.
Whatever the coder needs to code the record will have to be available
to her
at home. The smoother the upfront process, the easier it is for
the coder
to meet productivity standards.
Will
my coder's productivity increase if she codes from home?
At Amphion, we realize a 20% increase in productivity from our coders
once
they work remotely from home. It is consistent and the Themis software
is
an excellent management tool for monitoring productivity from a
remote coder.
