Diabetes mellitus, whether it be primary or secondary; Type I or Type II; controlled or uncontrolled is one of the most prevalent diagnoses we see today. With the increase in childhood obesity and the overall high obesity levels among Americans, this disease will only increase. This presentation will provide a clinical perspective on this very pertinent topic. To round out our discussion, we will clarify the coding guidelines related to coding all types of diabetes and its manifestations.
