County Memorial Hospital - North Shore Medical Center
We have used the coding services of Amphion Medical
Solutions since 2003 to assist us in our outpatient surgery and
ER coding. Amphion has since provided us with CCQM services for
certain targeted DRG's. Their professional, knowledgeable staff
has made working with Amphion Medical Solutions a pleasure. I know
they are only an e-mail or phone call away and I will always get
a prompt answer to my questions. They are willing to go above and
beyond to research an issue and get back to me as quickly as possible.
The
monthly education in-services are very informative and a welcome
learning experience for our coders, and the CEU's for credential
coders are an added bonus to these sessions.

I just wanted to share with you that I sat for the CCS
on May 5th and PASSED! I was so happy. I didn't want to
let anyone know before hand in case I didn't pass. I found the hardest
part to be coding from the book after using an encoder daily. The
time constraint was also challenging. I just wanted to extend
a thank you for all you help, guidance and willingness to share all
of your wisdom! You all played a part in my passing the CCS.
I found the training I received through Amphion to be so helpful and
invaluable. You all have been great to work with and I consider
myself lucky to have had access to such great people and resources.
Now that I have the credential, now I have to back it up, I know there
is a lot of work ahead of me, constant learning and challenges. I think this only the beginning to along career in coding!! Again,
a huge thank you!!

Fort
Atkinson Memorial Health Services • Fort Atkinson, WI
Due to a series of unforeseen circumstances, the HIM Dept. at Fort
Atkinson Memorial Health Services became backlogged with coding. Although
this is not uncommon in today's healthcare environment, it was made
more complex by the vacancy of the HIM Director's position. Jim Nelson,
CFO at Fort Atkinson Memorial Health Services moved forward with prompt
action to keep the A/R at an optimal level for the hospital. He decided
to partner with Amphion Medical Solutions, and to utilize Minnette
Terlep (VP at Amphion) as the short-term acting Interim HIM Director.
Together, Minnette and Jim came up with a plan to keep the department
running smooth and to keep coding current. Minnette "rallied
the troops," and with the outstanding performance of both the
FAMHM medical records staff and the Amphion Coding Staff, it continued
to run at optimal levels and backlogs were removed. In just 21 days,
$1 million of backlogged A/R was billed out. It was a true partnering
between Jim Nelson, Minnette Terlep, the competent staff in medical
records at FAMHS, and the response of the Amphion Coding staff led
by Lois Kelley and Pan Wirth. Together, all made it possible for this
to be a success story for Fort Atkinson Memorial Health Services and
Jim Nelson's astute decision to appoint Minnette Terlep as Interim
HIM Director.
Amphion Medical Solutions and the Fort Atkinson Memorial Health
Services will continue this successful relationship, as Amphion
does ongoing coding and review for FAMHS.
"It has proven to be a great partnership, and I cannot
say enough about the leadership of Minnette Terlep and the willingness
of the competent medical records staff here at FAMHS, as they all
pitched in together to work toward this common goal," said
Jim Nelson, CFO. "The services offered by Amphion Medical Solutions
were there when we needed them, and they supported us 100% in our
efforts to reduce A/R as quickly as possible. I would recommend
Amphion Medical Solutions to others in a similar situation."

Amphion Coding Service 'came to our rescue' when we experienced
a short-term coding back log. Being able to work with HIM professionals
that we know and trust is a great comfort when it comes to outsourcing
a function as important as coding! We appreciate Amphion's commitment
to utilizing technology to increase efficiency, and we love working
with the staff who scan our records. We are so pleased with the coding
services we receive from Amphion, that we didn't hesitate to ask for
their help with transcription! Again, the staff are responsive and
helpful. We are pleased with the quality of work and impressed with
the technology Amphion is using."

We have been a client of Amphion for just over one year and
in that time have listened to every coding teleconference that Lois
has presented. I have personally found the teleconferences to be an
invaluable source for coding knowledge. I trust Lois to be up to date
on the latest coding guidelines and know how to apply them correctly
to be in compliance with all of the rules and regulations that govern
our profession. Lois presents her information on well documented slides
and often accompanies them with supporting documentation from the
federal registry, which I have found to be very beneficial. The topics
of the teleconferences are always pertinent and cover the "hottest" issues of the day. I look forward to Lois's monthly presentations
because of the opportunity that it gives me to become a better, more
informed coder.
